MY01 or MY02

hello, ive been reading a few posts in relation to the freelanders, i have seen folks refer to their freelander as a MY01 and a MY02 - does this refer to the registration year? i have a Freelander / L314 and would like to know if its a MY01 or MY02?

MY is model year. My Freelander is a 2001 so it would be model year 2001 or MY01.
The term model year refer's to the release of that particular model or sale point. For eggsample the 2001 model year design was actually available late 2000. Same as LR is currently selling MY16 model year 2016 vehicles currently even though it's Nov 2015. It makes owners think they're buying the new model in the future, early.
L314 = Freelander 1 = 1997 to 2006
L359 = Freelander 2 = 2006 to 2014

Look at your VIN, 1A###### is 2001MY, 2A###### 2002MY, etc. Always use the VIN when ordering parts.

thanks longdog - 2A is in my VIN so this confirms that i have a MY02. the main reason im checking is i wanted to know about the cold start engine heater. apparently they was only on the MY01?

From 2002 they were either factory fitted as part of a winter pack option , or a dealer fit accessory.
