Thanks iampwk glad you are along for the ride.

Shoulders burning?! Everything is so squeaky clean. It’s an ocd sufferers dream 😂👌

Yeah I do go over the top but what the heck its my car and I am enjoying myself:)

Weather and family commitments have slowed me down recently but I am getting stuff done now.

Managed to get the remaining repairs on the body done, painted the underside with acrylic primer, stone chip around the wheel wells then epoxy primer and gloss black. Then I could get body colour on where I want it in the engine bay -

Chassis is now outside so I can get all the suspension components painted -

And axle cases -

Diffs and other components -

Once the paint has fully cured I have everything I need to start building up the chassis starting with the rear axle and self leveling system -

I just love those Terrafirma shock turrets!

Hopefully another update early next week

Love seeing this progress. Although, without wanting to sound like a tw@t, what made you put terrafirma shocks on it?
Mine had terrafirmas on when you drove it;)
Paint on springs just starting to fail & shocks may get changed next year. But lasted well..

My springs not bright yellow though,

Showing my inexperience with modern Land Rovers I guess, I take it they are none too good? What would you recommend?

Again any suggestions would be appreciated
Iv been on TF springs & shocks for years. Not had any problems. Some people say they had problems but Iv not experienced that. Yep I green lane & abuse my motor as a work horse .

Edit
Spotted you also have the tubular turets. Same here. You may need a ratchet strap to get the shocks done up as you won’t have body weight on them

Thanks Hicap phill, I read up on TF shocks before I bought them and they had generally positive reviews. I dont have an endless budget for this project and still have a very long way to go so they struck me as good value for money. I can always upgrade on members advice at a later date.

Got the front axle on today, getting the lower shock fixing on was a challenge but ultimately as you said with the aid of a ratchet strap I got them on -

Keep the comments coming please positive, negative and sarcastic. If you are going to be negative it would help a great deal to explain why and also what you would use or do in the same circumstances, thanks.

Just amazing standard of work, keep it coming.

I’ve not run them for any length of time to be fair so my opinion is worthless. I’ve just seen people annoyed with the quality of their shocks, brake lines etc. They’re on my D1 at the moment but will be getting changed for old man emu The ones on mine look like the heavy ones with heavy rear springs.

My springs not bright yellow though,
I found the heavy duty ones on my d1 (now Ed’s) a bit crashy unladen but they were heavy duty spec and coupled with blue heavy duty springs so expected I suppose. I’ve heard bad things about durability but they were on that car since long before I got it and apart from bushings needing replacing didn’t cause me any issues in the short time I owned it (c15k miles).

Personally I’ve just gone for standard spec Boge ones on the range rover and find it rides a lot nicer unladen, but I’m comparing apples to oranges really is it’s 108” wheelbase and has air suspension. Whether it’s to do with springs or shocks I can’t say but I do find that the I seem to drive the Range Rover slower on the same roads as I would the Discovery and I think it’s because it rolls more maybe?

I’m sure this car will be lovely when finished and at least if heli_madken isn’t happy with the ride they’re easy enough to swap out at a later date. Keep up the good work!

Best springs are police spec RRC. They stiffen up with a bit of load so don’t roll as much but no weight and it’s like riding on air.

Fitted these to disco/LR & 88” special
Won’t fit them to the hi cap as they don’t always like towing weight
