Hi all

Ok, I’ve now had my 99 P38 for 2 months and covered a shade under 2000 miles, relatively trouble free, though I’ve had a few quirky yet expected things.
One thing that happened yesterday and driving in to work today though – engine was running rough, not too bad, but noticeably with a loss of power. Sounded like there was blowing, possibly from the exhaust, so I was thinking a trip to KwikFit was in order…
Anyway, got to work, lifted the bonnet and noticed a lead had popped off a spark plug, drivers side, the one at the furthest point towards the back of the engine bay. A perfect candidate for causing rough running. So put it back on, and will see how it runs on the way home tonight.
It’s done about 30 miles in this state, so I’m hoping no damage will have occurred as a result of ??
It also guzzled fuel in that 30 miles like no other time.

Other issues I have – heater o-rings have started leaking, coolant loss very slow, but drivers side floor getting damp, lots of posts and info on this, but conflicting info at that. How simple to replace and how long? I’ve seen 2hrs to the stealers 12 hours. Im pretty handy at fixing things with applied common sense, and so if it is a DIY job to a newb, then please tell me to go for it, or get it done at a garage if not.

EAS – I always leave it parked on max height at the moment to see if it’s leaking as it does some odd things. It’s stayed at max height everytime apart from when left for 2 days and it, well… dropped to various heights on each corner lol, but been perfect since. Not overly concerned, it’s a P38 with EAS…

SRS light is on. Any quick fixes?

Oh yeah, and out driving in the rain the other day, and the passenger seat had a clicking noise coming from under it, electronic noise for sure. Would like click 5-10 times, stop, then kick in again a minute or so later. Not heard it since. Was definitely coming from directly under the seat itself??

Cheers

Hi Vinny
I'm pretty sure the lack of spark to one cylender won't cause you too many problems other than an excess of unburnt fuel in your cylinder which may have made it's way down the sides of your piston and into the block. may also have passed into the CAT and could damamge that but not very likely - wouldn't worry. Fuel use would go up as you are using less cylenders to achieve the same momentum but the same fuel being pumped in to less effect.
I don't know about the O rings but I wonder if you have seen Range Rovers and searched in there? It's very handy.
Good luck mate

hi vinny,

regarding your o rings, if you go on rangerovers.net, there's clear and easy instructions on replacing them, i was going to do mine 12 months ago until i went to my local landy specialist for some tips, and he said he would do it for £140. it only took him 90 mins aswell and no problems since.
