My new mix match project.

Picked the motor up at the weekend. Was a long haul all the way to kilmarnock and had a rather dodgy "snake and shake" incident with the trailer on the way up. Left some nice zigzag skid marks on the motorway

Its a range rover chassis and running gear cut down with a series body and defender grill and a Daihatsu 2.5 diesel engine (these any good?)

Quite it bit more to do than I first thought. Everthing seems to be bodged or half finished. First thing will be to get her running I reckon, then go from there. Got new clutch master and slave ordered so get them on and should be able to move her.

Does anyone know if a 1980 rangerover has hi and lo? I cant imagine it doesnt? I understand theyre permanant 4wd but It seems all I have is a gear stick and no transfer lever?

Fooking ell it's worst than mine. Oh well they'll be easily spotted when we're out and about.

I wander what spares availability is like for those old 2.5 Daihatsu engines? I haven't seen one of those F50 Fourtrack bread vans around for years over here, but there are scores of them in Ecuador for some reason - in good nick too.

nice trailer, body is staigh by the look of it even if that white is p38 and looks like you have a mountain of spare tires in the back. whats the underside like

Chassis is range rover and is immaculate. apparently had 4 coats of rust cure (or something similar) and 6 coats of chassis black. Also has new brake lines and discs and pads all round. plus polybushed, new coils and rear adjustable shockers so underside is all good. Theres a tiny patch of rust on the bulkhead and thats it.

I need to get a vacumn for the brake servo from somewhere. the vacumn pump has two pipes which i presume are an inlet and an outlet, one goes to the servo so I presume the other is an inlet but the seller said that needs connecting to the inlet manifold?? hmmm dunno.

It came with a load a spares. including a set of wide rims and a good set of rims and tyres. The ones its rolling on are pretty knackered though.
