Hi all,

Just got my 3rd Defender, a 2001 TD5 twin cab and am setting out to create my very own Spectre replica. I plan to keep this thread updated on progresses and already have the parts list all mapped out as well as order of jobs.

First things first though, the body on my new purchase is a bit rough and obviously needing some attention before going into its new Santorini Black paint. I'd like to get the doors refurbished as they are dented and the inner panels are rusty. I don't have the space to do this at home myself so could anyone steer me to someone local up north (i'm in Manchester) that could do this for me? I could also just get some good used doors.

Also, the steering is very vague, i'm taking it that i'll need to adjust or replace the steering box?

Other areas getting sorted are the chassis which is in very good shape but needs a thorough undersealing session to keep it looking that was as well as getting the box sections and bulkhead Waxoiled to help preserve it in future.

I'll be servicing it next week as well as diagnosing a rear suspension knock and also plan on a 2" lift - Can anyone recommend a good quality but not too expensive kit? I was look at the Terrafirma shock and spring package, would anyone be able to recommend any alternatives too?

Any assistance would be very much appreciated to help get it all going :)

Cheers and more updates (and doubtless questions) to come!

o :)

Are you building a true Spectre replica or just something that vaguely looks like one?

Cheers guys!

I don't plan to go as far as the remote reservoir shocks or engine upgrade but I want to get the exterior details as right as possible within the confines of the TD5. I've planned out the build just need to order the parts now and get workshop and paint shop time booked.

Wish me luck!

o :)
