Picked up my new toy today. The winch and muddy tyres go on this week, the silly lights on the roll cage and wheel spacers have got to go!

very flash inside!
Whats the auto all about though?

A few creature comforts:) Leather seats (an Overfinch mod), air con - what's all that about in a Defender!!! I have always fancied the auto for off road - also Mrs Widget won't drive the V890 off road, she's a really good driver but lacks a little confidence and the auto box will help sort that.

how much did it set you back??
Twice as much as I sold the V8 90 for!!! Ouch.

I look at it from the POV that it was cheaper to get this than fit a cage, air con, auto box and 4 litre V8 to the old one... Plus this will get better resale than an upgraded older vehicle.

Can't wait to get and and use it properly off road.:D I think a few other 50th owners will think me a hooligan though.

Nice one, can I have first refusal when you've had enough :)

Saw a rather nice 90 with a TVR 5.3 lump fitted in this month's LRW mag, owner paid £75k for all the work

Maybe...

That's the reason why I sold the V8 90. No point spending a fortune to create something that is available ex-factory for less money?

The principle is a bit like the £30k Citroen Saxo. You can only polish a turd so much.

i dont really know if theres an issue with spacers and landys. some say its ok and others say no no. ive no direct experience.
but generally speaking, wheel spacers for any car is not a good idea. it puts a lot of stress and strain on the other components.

Is there an issue with wheel spacers? I was thinking of putting some on my 110 to reduce the turning circle

I don't have much experience - they're coming off to reduce the amount of mud being thrown up the sides and keep the look original.:)
