You'll probably find that one of those "oil filters" is actually the diesel fuel filter. You're getting well on there anyway. That snorkel looks really good.

Cheers bud, that would make more sense.. Lol..

My mate is a absolute star for doing that for me.

Hi there , where did you get that flexible rubber connecting pipe the bit that goes into the cut out wing ? Cheers

The flexible pipe is a part of the original intake system, just had to tamper a bit with it to fit

Well I think the plastic trim on the front bumper has to come off now.. But it did a good job to stay on...

Ah bless it ! I use mine in a different way to you it goes off road most of its miles but because it has too but it'd has to be smart too washed tidy inside etc and fully working

I have just rebuilt the front hubs and swivels it's had a full machine mop, air con rebuilt it's a life saver were I go in the summer, a full under body Shultz to be honest the thing looks brand new now, newer than the newer range rover!

Wide arch extension will be my only mod externally to house aggressive tyres, could do with lifting but I can't with the clients it takes access becomes a issue internally it's got gun boxes dog cages and a drinks fridge

Yeah I need to do a machine mop at some point.. Going to spray the roof and re tint windows as well. And also arches and 2" lift..

Well little bit of progress. Front bumper cut down... And steering guard on.

30mm bulldog spacers on.. :) I know most people don't agree, but Landy looks so much better with them on.

Also fitted 2 new subs in rear door with the help of my old man my mate and couple of the guys on here for detailed advise.... :)

Also fitted a cb radio. Not quite finished the install, just a few finishing touches to go.

I think spacers on standard wheels look much better. I always thought the wheels were a bit too within the body on the D1. Don't forget to adjust your steering stopper for a better turning circle :D

Nice idea on spacers with stock wheels, I may look into this.

Unrelated, but what differences are there (if any) with Jap import vs UK Discovery's?

Good progress btw :)

Agreed, it's so strange how much it transforms the car... I forgot about the steering stops... Can you adjust them that much now?

Cheers mate, I am a bit unsure of the differences to be fair, I know the jap ones have a amp in the passenger foot well and also for some reason some people say the exhaust system is different.. Other than that not sure really.

Jap Disco's don't come with rust as standard.

 so I have been told.. But what I don't get is that were they not built here and then shipped out to japan?

My Jap import has no extra amp (that I can see) but I'm the 2nd UK owner so it may have been removed.

The downpipe had what looked like a DPF and a flexi joint (not sure how this differs from UK) but I've replaced with a solid defender decat item now.

It does have a water cooled EGR though which means to remove it fully requires a new bottom radiator hose as well as a top intercooler hose. Mine is just blanked for now but deleting the whole EGR system is on my to-do list.

I think the interlock function of the auto gearbox was also a Jap-only feature.

Only other thing I can think of is that although it has the 2 button remote central locking there is no alarm as standard.

just too clear a couple of things up

A whats a interlock function on the auto box

B it does have a amp i blew the fuse on mine

C i thought they were built in the UK ?

I can confirm the exhaust is different no idea why, and i love the wheel spacer thing i think that could be a job on mine too so the wheels fit the arches

Interlock means you need ignition on and brake pedal pressed before you can take it out of Park. Also (this may be the Jap-only bit) you can't remove the ignition key unless the gearbox in in park.

I had to pull the small multiplug off the ignition barrel as this 'feature' stopped me getting the key out despite being in park. Only side effect is that I no longer get the audible warning when the key is in the ignition when the drivers door is opened.

As far as I know they were all built here in the UK for the Japanese market.

What's different about the exhaust & why? I'm looking to fit a 'sports' exhaust to mine that takes out the centre box. Is it the flexi down pipe that won't fit?

The only difference with the exhaust is that there is an extra 'box' in the downpipe after the flexi joint, not sure exactly what it is cat? dpf? but it's not needed. Passed MOT this week without it.

A 'sports' system will fit OK as that's what I've fitted to mine. I went for the one with a solid defender downpipe (no flexi) as it was cheaper which meant I had to jack up the body to squeeze it past the cross member. The original comes out easily because of the flexi joint.

Interesting to know the differences between Jap & UK models, but appears to be very little then? I was expecting some cool interior gizmo's and gadgets which I'd then proceed to hunt for on eBay!
