Hi chaps, just a quickie,

my on going nightmare has just got worse,

my 96 4.6 on gas has had its fair share of ups & downs but this has done my head in.

After now being told it's over fuelling which is causing the rough running I was looking at the lambda sensors and noticed the nearside one has been butchered, it has two wires going to the chassis and two going into some sort of badly wrapped wiring loom, I chased the loom and it eventually goes to a black box which is something to do with the gas system, so as the lambda reading is not fluctuating and it runs crap on both gas & petrol my thought is to change the sensor.
So after lots of knuckle scraping I got it out and the code on the sensor says
Ford 97bb-9f472-aa
so after a google, it turns out it's for an escort/orion/mondeo etc etc
so what now ?
I tried ordering a new one, and for that model and year there are three different codes,

Does anybody know which code I need ?
or could I use any one of them ?

all answers will be greatly received as ever,
thanks again everyone.

Sounds like you have a badly fitted single point lpg system. Invest in a sequential multipoint front end kit and a new pair of Titania o2 sensors.

I've just gone to fit the new sensor and thought I'd just see where the old one plugged in and........... the original one is still there, the whole thing, sensor, lead, connector the lot !!! how I didn't see that before is beyond me.

So what is the one I've taken out (the one I described earlier)?

It's just before where the normal lambda sensor goes but on the underneath of the down pipe, clearly visible and obvious so probably why I thought that was it.

Shall I replace it anyway just to see if it runs any better or take it back, get my £60 back and get hammered ?
