Rust in the HPFR sensor is bad. This is why there's an overlay harness. I would suggest that you invest in one. ;)
it is next on my list of things to buy. im also going to have it carbon cleaned again. before it all goes back together ill be jet washing the manifold (again, was done just before the egr was taken off and theres still **** in there) and ill get some switch cleaner and clean up the plug on the sensor, see if that makes any difference till the new one is here.

Been having a play about sorting a couple of annoying problems, the steering wheel adjuster hasnt worked since ive had it so decided to have a look why, turns out the nut behind the lever was just done up stupidly tight so easy fix.
the n/s wing mirror has been floppy jiloppy for a few weeks, all the gears inside were chewed up, try to salvage it but no luck, jammed it tight whilst i sourced a replacement that didnt cost an arm and a leg. found one on the bay for £28 so swapped that over, at first i thought id been sold a dud as it wouldnt adjust up and down then i had the almighty idea to try the o/s mirror which also didnt work, so pulled the adjuster doofer out wiggled the wires, magic. both mirrors working great and power fold now works.
heated seat on drivers side hasnt been working although the switch lights up and relay clicks, checked all the wiring and swapped the relay from the passenger side. nice and toasty, so will try and find a second hand relay for the passenger side before we get any super chilly weather.
had an annoying rattle on uneven ground last weeks so decided to check out the anti roll bar drop links, both need replacing soon, also fitted them the correct way around.

also...the clattering...
to the guy above that suggested the crank pulley, you need cake, lots and lots of cake.
before it wouldnt clatter when it was hot only when cold, last 3 days its got worse and now does it whilst hot! :D theres wear on the auxiliary belt and little specs of metal filings dashed about the place. also i put a small screwdriver between the 2 parts of the pulley and twisted it and it bang when i let go so new pulley to be ordered as soon as ive got some ££££:p

changed the crank pulley today, bolt come undone pretty easily so no worries there, actually had more grief trying the get the auxiliary belt off, bolt on the tensioner kept coming undone when i was pulling on the spanner. anyway got it changed had to do it without the angle thing as my angle meter wouldnt fit (will be getting a new torque wrench with angle function i think) so tightened it with a bar and will double check it with impact gun in the morning. clattering is gone so it was the pulley causing it.
air con belt tensioner has some play in it so will need changing soon but that can wait a while.

also had the replace the wiper motor/linkage as the motor packed up so all good.

noticed a split inner cv gaitor whilst i was changing the pulley, that will be done next week, along with gearbox/ird oil.

this thing is becoming a money pit, expected to spend a few quid sorting things out especially after only paying £1500 for it, but it seems as soon as i sort one problem out another rears its head.
CV gaitor was replaced and gearbox filled with ATF (thanks to @Alibro and his crunchy gearbox thread) it had the same problem of crunching into 3rd when down shifting so though it would be worth a go. so far its done around 100 miles and hasnt improved, if anything its got worse, so looks like ill be changing the gearbox shortly  excuse to fit a new clutch i suppose, and might also change the gear linkage at the same time as its like stirring porridge at the moment:p

the crank pulley i bought turned out to be pretty much useless and lasted 150 miles (thatll teach me for buying cheap) so ive ordered a genuine corteco pulley and maybe that will last a while longer.

anyway, heres a picture from when it was last cleaned (was a while ago:p)

But it looks so good, how can you complain about it? :)

Generally attractive things come at a cost - I was only chatting with some mates yesterday about Jessica Rabbit - she's high maintenance, but Roger doesn't complain :)
