Guys.. again this year the heavy rain has made my FL1 TD4 poorly. There was horizonal rain and puddles... the same as last year - on came the engine light. After much work on the car last year the problem went away (the weather got better) and it's been ok all year until last weekend. The local garage wanted me to pay for a new Turbo last year as they said it was faulty... I didn't change it as it got better. Any ideas where the water is getting in... I sprayed everything in WD40.. no joy.

1) .. Introduce Yourself - Land Rover Zone .. and post ..
2) .. ask re. problem here: Land Rover Freelander - Land Rover Zone

likely to be water ingress to the injector harness ..
in particular the fuel-rail sensor ..

see here : td4 engine faults :
ROVER 75 MGZT ENGINE FAULT FINDING

disconnect the f.r. sensor plug .. clean the pins ..
smear with 'contralube' .. see end of page here : links to freelander1 info

do same to the injector wiring plugs ..
and other sensor wiring plugs on the engine

if you've hit standing water .. there is the slight possibility of water ingress via
the air-intake .. which will foul the air-filter and maybe effect the maf sensor

could be something else .. read thru that 'td4 faults' page

rain water soaks the air filter and progresses to the element in the maf sensor. fit some drain bungs to the air filter box, new air filter and maf sensor. had this on a vw lt45, took vw 5 months to cure it.

Thanks for the help guys... Changed the turbo vent filter, replaced the air filter and re-fitted the filter box.. Which was not bolted down on the back bolts. It' running great now. I also had the same fault of a road speed noise.... A da da da type rumble - while checking for wheel bearings problem.. I noticed that the with the tyre just off the ground there was a flat spot on the tyre.. Change to spare.. Another problem gone.

Doors still on...
