Every so often a thumping noise comes from my ACE, it only happens when driving I think it is there all the time but at higher speeds it's not noticable

The guy I bought the Disco off said this is normal, can anyone shed any light on this?

When you say front, where abouts do you mean exactly? I'm sure the thumping noise is coming from underneath where the pump is

Looking up under the front of the car, there is a solid round bar about 30mm in dia across the chassis that has the ACE ram attached to the RH end and a link rod on the LH.It is held to the chassis by 2 clamps with the worn bushes clamped in them.

Ok thanks for that, I'm no expert but I still think the thumping/venting noise is coming from where the pump is.

drive a chicane or wobble it down the road, if the thump comes as the body rolls over center then its probably the bushes. it will be a singular thump.

simpy locate the bar under the front of the car like 8inaV said and try to move it by hand, if there is any play then replace the bushes. £5 and an easy fix

That's just it though, the thump comes when driving along slowly on a srtaight road....

It's like a midget pounding on the underneath of the sill with a hammer every so often

EDIT: I've just been outside to have a look underneath the Disco so I could take the hammer off the midget but I didn't find him :(

Well what's that contraption directly under my ass on the outside of the vehicle, yon thing with the metal hydraulic pipes entering one end from the front of the vehicle and then a set exiting the other and going to the back of the vehicle?
