Folks time for a proper thread with some pictures and the inevitable questions!

So I bought her for £3k no MOT ex farm! 100k miles and pretty straight and standard! I love her already! :)

T-cut, splash of paint on the grille and headlight surrounds, new bumper and some lenses and she will look much better!

First up welding!

Need a new bulkhead out rigger on this side!

Should i just patch this side?

Both chassis rails at identical places need a plate - but thats it..

£15 swivel kit from Paddocks say? I have search and it doesn't look like an MOT failure but it looks too damp to leave?

Less than ideal! Need to find out where the leak is pronto!

I need a new one of these drop links...

Best of luck with her, but I would be wary of the chassis. Nothing that cant be fixed, but it WILL need fixing.Get something like a picking hammer and start at the the rear cross member. the last six inches of chassis rail before the rear cross member are especially prone. I would also take a good luck at where the outriggers join the chassis. Quite ofteen when you remove a rusty one you will find holes in the side of chassis rail.

The out riggers do worry me - I don't know what to expect when I grind them!

But I've been around with a hammer and the rest of the chassis (includes new rear x member) is solid - i was quite surprised. And the doors - the bottoms are solid, and look 100% original too!

Guys, can you have a look at the last picture, and let me know if this is the part of the steering system which identifies whether it is a 3/4 bolt or 6 bolt - I need a drop arm, and am struggling to ID the part?

Thanks in advance
Tom

EDIT: Sussed it out! :)

Yes. The top of the steering box as per the photo. Count the bolts around the edge of the top cover.

I can't tell which one it is from the photos, as I have only had 4 bolts on my Landys, but someone will spot it straight away.

Great - thank you. I had just about got there, but wasn't 100% sure.

Any thoughts on the leaking tank leak or the drum on the prop?

Cheers
Tom

Is the tank leaking from the drain bolt, and blowing up as you drive. Nip up the drain bolt if it is loose. Maybe best to clean the tank up and trace the leak if not. Try taking out drivers seat base and looking under the seat cover for loose pipes on the top of the tank. No idea on drum tho

Its common for the fuel tank to leak from the welded joint around the middle.

I see - thank you for your reply John.

If this is the case should I drain, fill with sand and weld, or chuck it on the scrap pile and part with £100?

Cheers

i scrapped mine and parted with the 100 notes mine had gone round the weld but on closer inspection it was very weak in several other places

Thanks. I fear might be the same.

Oil spinning out from drum is going to be from transfer box, seal gone on the flange behind the hand brake unit.

Thank you - that doesn't sound too bad, and by the look of it i wouldn't of thought it was urgent either. I must check the g/b oil level...

Cheers
