I was hankering after a land rover and this popped up on ebay last night.

A 1980 109" petrol. It is an ex AA vehicle and has the original paint under the green and black. It has 96k on the clock but I'm assuming that is 196k being a working vehicle.

Faults so far are REALLY soft brakes, bent wiper arm and non original interior. I'd like some land rover seats and mats to fit in it. It has laminate floor fitted in the roof with carpet and pipe insulation.

The biggest problem is the gearbox is very rattley in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Good points, it starts really easily! Has a kenlowe electric fan, has overdrive and radial tyres.

Anyway here are some photos.

i don't know, since you have laminate, carpet and the pipes lagged, i'd just finish it off with a tv in the back and some slate on the roof :D

? Military recon engine judging by remaining duck egg blue paint, was it an Raf runway vehicle hence the yellow (inca) paint. Nice buy.

Gearboxes are relatively easy to replace, soggy brakes are standard but it'll be worth replenishing the brake fluid and bleeding - and check the servo is working.

Hello, yes it is supposedly an ex AA vehicle but it may well be a runway vehicle being the same livery?

Who would i contact to find out?

As said with the gearbox, im pretty sure it is the layshaft bearing but a strip down and rebuild should solve that.

Unfortunately i work away a lot but i now have time to order all the parts needed and do the work when i get home.....
