hi
i am in highland for a holiday, but my disc4 ( dissel) was unable to start up the engine after had a heavy shower. finally I started the engine but the dash board was like a Xmas tree, everything gone wrong.
After 1hr, seems everything working. but after a 20 miles driving on a wet A82 road, the car started same problems again.
anybody have any idea? i will ask AA to tow me back if problem is serious.
thanks

Low battery volts sends everything haywire.
I bet you put yr headlights on in the rain?
New battery + a check of your Alternator.

battery checked by AA, it's fine.
will check the rest when i go home
many thanks for your advice
Glad to hear it. Define "fine"?
A battery that's fine has a resting voltage above 12.5V (the higher the better) a battery that dips <11V when cranking is kaput.
Are you saying the AA bod did a heavy-discharge test on your battery?
If starting load pulls the battery too low it corrupts many of the electronic systems and weird things then happen.
I would still get a 2nd opinion. Best of Luck! Hope you have no further issues.

yes, AA checked the voltage is 12.5V.
took the car to dealership for a full service and told them the problem. unfortunately they couldn't find any, what they can do is that let me take the car straight away when this happen again and then they will have a erro code.
what i suspect is something lose or exposed ( wire or seal ?), when road surafce is wet, water go to inside of the car, then caused a electrical problem.
i am thinking take it to a specialist ( landrover), maybe he knows more ?

The car will already have error codes in it logged to time, date and mileage from when it happened before. The dealer can clear them and you can then drive it until it happens again and new codes will be logged. The codes already in it should help. Is the sunroof leaking? Has the windscreen been changed?

I'd question the ability of the "dealership" thats done a full service with the advice to go back if it happens again!!
Error codes are logged for that reason, so if the fault is intermittent it can be rectified.
If you want a LR specialist then maybe post your location for some recommendations.
If you read a lot of the problem posts you'll see garages arent magicians and youre better off spending money for a good knowledgeable service.
The water issue sounds feasible so I'd also have a check over for any signs, water has a habit of travelling as well, so don't assume it won't reach everywhere!!

Have the alternator checked. Also what make is it because these cars won’t tolerate crap alternator has to be a Denso

I live in Glossop near Manchester.
The car always has been serviced in Williams landrover dealership. the only thing I done for a tracking is in Kwik fix, and the problem generated after the tracking fix.
There is a landrover specilist in where junction 24 M60, not sure they are good or not.

i suspect alternator too, but williams landrover detected nothing from their PC ( i guess they only know problem from PC rather than common sense).
I am going for a caravan trip after this virus ends, so i won't wait till the problem comes again.
