Since several years my interest for Defender has been growing. It started with a Discovery, I bought it without any deeper consideration. I liked it especially its capabilities on unploughed winter roads that we have plenty of here in SE. But during my time with the Disco I discovered! the Defender and it dawned to me this was the real Landy. I sold the Disco (V8 thirsty)During time the urge to buy a Defender grew stronger and stronger and last year I finally found one that I thought was right in price compared to condition. A TD5 110 2002 not at all in mint condition but good enough. First thing I did was a service, all filters and oil, bolted on the General 10,5*31*15 quite fat that came with the car. In june whole familiy 5people went to France and brought home our daughter after a year in Royan. 6350km in 9 days no issues , nothing actually my Defender effectively killed the myth of LRs not reliable! After a fun summer trying the car in some hill climbing competition etc it is now on stands in the garage. I have changed brakediscs wheel bearings, renovated calipers, changed springs, shocks and now latest the xmember. My intention was to patch the holes but realised it was easier to change the whole member. I'm pondering on changing the clutch as there is a noise, I suspect comes from bearing but only when cold starting and it disappears after few minutes and doesnt come back until cold again. But as a whole clutch works fine so I am a bit ambigous abt this. Any tip anyone?

:welcome:

Lovely defender you got mate, and I fully agree that the defender is the only proper landy :behindsofa:

I can't help you with your clutch issue but no doubt someone will be about soon who knows a bit more.

Cheers

As I havent got any tip abt the noise I searched through Land zone more thoroughly and found an answer. It is most probably the spigot bush sitting at crankshaft before flywheel that cause the noise. I think most of the mecchanical issues has already been brought up on this site, one just need patience to find the thread. Really useful to look through LZ before braking loose with the tools.
