My clutch is starting to hurt my bad leg :(

hello all!

been a while since i post anything on the forum. but here it goes!

way back in 2004 i had an accident wich landed me in hospital for months waiting for the doctors to decide weather i will get to keep my leg.. fun times! lucky for me i healed well and its still attached. resently the clutch has taken its tole on my bad leg and its becoming a bit of a painfull ride. just wondering if anyone has found a way to make the clutch a bit lighter, or am i stuck with it.

I believe you can get a clutch servo kit which reduces the weight of the clutch using an add-on servo booster system, although it might have only been for TD5 Defenders, can't remember. And I expect it would be prohibitively expensive to buy.

So on balance I think your best bet would be an auto conversion as James suggested.

Saw an article in a mag or on you tube about an added device, the guy pressed the clutch down with his finger, will try and find it and let you know

look on td5alive.co.uk they have a impressive clutch power assist unit that they engineered just for the defender. After installation you can use your clutch with 2 fingers. look it over. its not a ebay add on somebody else's stuff ,and made in England
 
I reckon the remote servo is what you want, but if you are going to keep the car for a long time auto may be better as said already.
Neighbour had a new knee couldnt drive her car so got one with a much lighter clutch a citroen iirc, then that became to much and now shes got an auto.

ive never been a big fan of auto transmitions so that will be my complete last resort. but some good links have been thrown in an im gunna have a good look through now :)

Bayden; Don't know how your medical works in the uk. But in the us after a bad accident like that. They have programs where they will help with differents aids, to help your motor skills. Maybe your rehabilitation services have such a thing. You can only ask ,the worst they can say is no.
