hi landyzone

just thought id throw up a small bit of the build process of our challenge build.
so heres the story so far, how we bought it

then played in it a few times

after this we decided to spend some money and go for uprated axles, diffs shafts etc so got on the phone to Ashcrofts and bought the whole hog for both axles, unfortunately ive lost all of the pictures for these when they were fitted

at the same time we decided to go for the D44 extreme tubular wings and fit an 8274 to the front

heres a few more of the wings going on

then painted and you might not the 8274 i mentioned has been sent to the back of the car and a gigglepin GP84 plonked in its place, it came up at too good a price to turn down

also fitted some MIB challenge corners to give a little more clearance for the 35" simex on staun beadlocks

all fitted up and ready for its first outing

1st outing was the Anglian Rover Owners Club AROC novice winch challenge which was a fantastic team event

we came 7th but our team mate had broken a rear shaft on the first section so was being dragged round by us and then an hour before the end his front diff went also, at this point we retired after having a lot of fun

so then we decided to enter the round of the LRS challenge at geddington deep scar, this was an eye opener to say the least

extremely difficult and we found out that the centre and rear winch brakes wouldnt hold so had to retire after a couple of hours, this was the only pic of that event

we then took a break to concentrate on some other projects but decided to fit a set of series doors before Rd6 of the LRS at uplands coppice bridgnorth and had an excellent day coming 5th in our class only 300 points behind 3rd

brilliant i didnt even get to drive it, thanks to spyderman for flipping us over and getting this snap

this was to be the cars last outing this year as we are planning a 100" conversion and trayback so i will keep it updated as that happens

I'm seeing a B reg front number plate and the top of a td5 engine..... Please elaborate......

car had a td5 engine and tub on it when we bought it 2 years ago, did all the usual checks engine numbers chassis numbers etc etc and has been changed on the log book to current engine number, should also say had the engine number checked and not recorded as stolen as i was massively worried about this fact or is it a ringer when myself and my dad bought it

its not on the road anyway and once traybacked definitely wont ever be as i don't fancy going through the rigors of an IVA

Year 1984
Chassis No. SALLDVAC7AA223234
Engine No. 12J04999

Its a td5 chassis, you can tell by the rear crossmember and fuel tank brackets and the wiring loom, not a witch hunt must have been made from a spares only rolling chassis.
That engine number is the old four pot na diesel.

That's what he showed us a receipt from a breakers, will double check the v5 as to engine number as I got a friend to run it through the system, he said not stolen hence y we bought it, it's getting cut up this month anyway, looking forward to the trayback so as it can rest on trees and we don't have to worry about damaging the tub

Anyway you guys like the look of it? It's serving us really well and is even pretty gd after being on its roof for quite a while

I don't think the engine is such an issue, it's the td5 chassis with a b reg id

dont know what all the fuss is about he's not trying to claim tax exempt and has tried his best to checked it out as not stolen
nice landy mate (cant say i like tray backs myself but its your choice);)

Thanks, I'm not a massive fan of traybacks either but at the level we are competing at it's an essential tool, so far this year we have lost loads of time re-rigging to save the tub where as the trays just rested on the trees and drove out
