I have had the problem of a lean to the drivers side for a couple of years. As a result I changed the shocks and springs for new ones but the lean remains the same - about 4 cms at front and 2 cms at back. It might not seem much but it looks bad and cornering is not good. I travel to North Africa a couple of times a year and the rocky pistes make a scary ride at speed. The 110 can be rocked from side to side quite easily more so on the driver side. I must add that most of the weight is on the driver side. My understanding is that the springs should be soft and the shocks firm - is this assumption correct. Also does anyone know if I can source a suspension system that is raised or firmer at one side. The additional fuel tank is behind the driver side rear wheel and is often hit by the tyre when bottoming out. Would be great if anyone has any ideas on how to solve the problem.

How much weight do you carry on your trips ? Or have you every weighed it fully laden.

I load mine to over the GVW, generally to about 3.400kg.
I have a 110 station wagon as my expedition vehicle. I don't hand the springs.

I have genuine Land Rover springs fitted. Yellow/ yellow at the front with Discovery TD5 turret rings. At the rear I have reg/ green springs with 130 inner helper springs fitted. The shocks again are Genuine Land Rover 130 shocks.

Wheels are Discovery steel with 235/ 85 tyres pressured at 30lb front and 34lb rear.
I'm fairly lucky as it sites level.

I take it the aux tank is a saddle tank ? That shouldn't make any difference, how much extra fuel ase you carrying ?
You could add a fresh water tank to the other side

Thanks for reply Mike. Most of the weight is on the driver side. The space under the driver seat if full of tools and inside behind driver seat is another box of spares and on roof a set of prop shafts. The lean is with the extra fuel tank 40 litres empty, without the 2 jerry cans on the roof, without the two fridges and without me in the car all of which are on the drivers side. I can put the fuel cans on the other side and the water idea is good but expensive as I already have a bespoke water supply on the roof. Its difficult to rearrange much as I sleep in the back and it is all fitted out as such very comprehensively.

I know what you mean. I'm guessing you have a van ???

How about forgetting the props and carrying just u/j's as I do. Maybe keep the front one as when they go the yokes often explode.

My fresh water tank is in the rear footwell. The locker under the drivers seat on mine has been enlarged...There's a full clutch in there as well as shackles and all recovery gear
Hi-Lift is on front bumper. I carry as little as possible on the roof. Later if I remember I'll post, if I can manage that, a couple of picks of mine on here.
We use a ground tent which accounts for quite a bit of weight.

Are you going to the Overland show in September ?

mike

Yes its a hard top 300 tdi. Not much really on the roof as the only other item is a solar panel. The 110 stays in a shed between trips on a sorn but might be a good idea to tax it a bit earlier to attend the show.

Yes springs are supposed to be handed.
Have a look at this
land rover spring specifications
Have you a winch on the front ? Then go for the winch springs.

Now what size is the solar panel, how good is it, I only have a 30Watt I think, I find it helps keep the battery topped up whan stationary for days at a show.

Just to refresh the lean is half an inch at back and one and a half inches at front - lean is to drivers side - I know they are PADDOCKS yellows!. Are genuine LR ones worth paying the price for.
