Must be light problem day lol ,,, yep I got one too,,,, was driving last night and I had both main beams go out on me,,, checked this morning and BOTH fuses have blown, ive tried to follow the Haynes wiring diagrams lol lol lol so now haven't a clue,,,, The way I see it theres 2 fuses so that you cant get a total loss of lights, so im thinking maybe relay is shot but where is it,,,,
Ive got sides, ive got dim dip, got full dip, but no mains and no flash,,,,,, any ideas ????
Cheers Coggy

What age defender??? Headlight relay is behind the fuse pannel itself. Is only 3 relays to choose from on 1986-1999 I believe. Just follow the wires from the headlights inside the wing all the way back to the bulkhead and then inside the dash to light stalk and look for any dogey wiring where it may have shorted. You'll prob need new bulbs aswell if it's blown the fuses out.

my 96 the headlight relay is under the dash by the drivers knee, remove the speaker on that side to get to it.
no idea why, the others are in the fuse box in the middle.

There is nowhere for the water to cause a short unless you have an exposed wire somwhere. If I were you when it's better weather have a good look and trace the wires otherwise it could keep happening or melt wires then you have a fun job of re-wiring.
