Hi all
Does any one know if Disco 300tdi 1995 VIN MA148016 have a MFU and if so where does it live
Any ifo appreciated
Paul

Thanks for the info nice
I have a feeling this is faulty and causing the injector solenoid not to work and so not start!!

Glad to be of help.
I have to advise you however the mfu has nothing to do with the fuel stop solenoid, it serves the heated rear screen, courtesy lights, side and head lights, rear fog lamps, headlamp washers, front wipers and rear wash wipe.
Whats your problem, someone may be able to help.

Cheers Nice
Prob is that disco was brocken in to.Steering lock and drivers lock destroyed.
Turning ignition switch with screwdriver turns engine over but no indication lights on dash and no start.Connect injector solenoid with wire from battery direct with origonal connector still on and the indicator lights come to life and engine starts.
Just to confuse more I discovered the ignition switch is faulty ie when turned to position 2 there is no 12V on the contact.Connected pos 1 and 2 together and when turned indication lights come on and engine turns-no start. When short start contact is shorted to contact beside it it starts and runs
Phew hope this makes sense to someone

I have spotted another clue
On the loom from the ignition switch the White/red wire that feeds the starter has been disconnected from the plug on the fuse board and connected to an extra wire that runs off I know not where.Someone must have had a sterter proble at some stage and by passed part of the system!!!!

Your problem is almost certainly related to the damage caused by the break-in.
Either the ignition switch is damaged or the wiring adjacent to it is damaged.
Putting a feed direct to the fuel stop solenoid provided a back feed to the ignition switch hence the various lights coming on.
You probably need a new ignition switch and a check of the wiring.
White/red wire is starter solenoid, it sounds as though somebody has bye-passed the immobilser.
White is the stop solenoid.

Thanks nice
That certainly makes sense. When I fit the new switch I will let you know how it turns out.
As the drivers lock was ruined I need to change that as well and I believe that the barrel cam colour is important,is that tied up with the alarm operation??

To be honest I have no idea.
I don't think it will be tied up with the alarm though, it's a fairly basic alarm.
Best to ask a main dealer:)

As a matter of interest one rear window and the rear wiper dont work
Can this be a faulty MFU

Update
Fitted the nei ignition switch assembly at the weekend and it now starts and runs-YAY.Have ordered a MFU on Ebay and hope that sorts out the interior light probs. As a matter of interest while I was fooling around with the wiring the rear wiper started to work and the front ones took on a life of there own, then all went dead incl the radio.Found a 10A fuse feeding the MFU had blown-hope the new MFU sorts the probs-PLEASE.
To add to my woes the wipers on my car developed a sense of humour this morning during a downpour on the motorway so its not only LRs that cause probs:eek:
