So what mpg are you getting from your 19J?

I did a run up the A1 the other day, steady 60 on GPS. Came back on A roads & through Leeds city centre (lots of traffic lights), round trip 130 miles.
Topped the tank again to check mpg & 21mpg.....

I thought it would've been better than that having a good steady run.

Mine does 12 when towing a 2 1/2 tonne trailer, around 20-22 when crusing at 70, a bit less if i push it to 75mph.

Can usualy get about 25-27 out of it if i'm carefull and drive at 60.

Things to check to get it running at 'peak' economy are the fuel and air filters to make sure your not getting incomplet combustion.

The 200tdi (the best for fuel econ.) will only give you 30mpg if you drive it carefully. The TD is an petrol stations best friend :D

get roughly 143 miles out of 30 bucks running to work and back 25 mile a day ( wish mine would do 70 mph ( wont go more than 67 using shat nav ) .

.

I have spent a year sorting this beast out, and will now run at 75mph on the flat without any probs (takes a long time to get there)

I guess it just depends on what the insidesof the engine are like - mine still has decent compression (maybe somebody in the past rebuilt it) - unlike the most of rest of these engines.

Ah but when you pull up to traffic lights you done get an oil haze coming wisping from your passenger wing tho I bet LOL ( got my rocker venting to atmosphere as it was ****ting up my air filter --- yes I know its fooked :D:D ) .

Just realised the nice knobbly tyres (can't remember the obscure make) fitted are too small on the OD
Thus making the gearing lower- that wont help the mpg...
The previous owner (a tight Welsh tw@t) fitted 235/75 x 15's- he said they were cheaper - I assumed he had compensated for the diameter/rolling radii by increasing the sidewall/aspect ratio when he dropped a rim size. NO
DAFT F@CKER
Thats why it looked like it had a lift kit too...

So now getting Kuhmo KL71's in 33 x12.5x 15's fitted :)

Don't worry mine does that as well (don't they all) :D :D but still seems to be running fine at 75mph + with good compression - can't be foooked to do a rebuild as it will just fall apart again in a few months time after i have thrashed.
