MPG from a Tdi 300, defender 90

I used to get around 30 mpg from my 90 300tdi. Insurance was always high, but I found Land Rover insurance to be very good for me. That said, I was 20 with two years no claims when I got my first. I think I paid around £800 fully comp with legal cover and the recovery package.

The N/A doesn't have a turbo, and on the road it's slow! It will be cheaper mind, and for off road use it's just as good as the tdi really.

If you can afford it get a tdi, they're nicer to drive. If not a N/A diesel is better than no landy at all!

The N/A isn't that bad. It just depends what state its in. I rebuilt mine and I've over taken plenty of newer 90's and 110's on the motorway (turbo engines) at 65-75 mph.

I'm 19 now and when I got my 90 (17) it only cost £430 fully comp for the year with my dad as the main driver. That was with the NFU.

Neither am I! Ensleigh and similar companies wanted over £2,000 but the NFU asked for £430. Huaaaaage difference.

awesome, might try and get a quote....

what do you think it would cost me to take out my own policy with them? (they dont do online quotes)

hi mate sorry but im pretty sure NFU dont insure under 25's unless they're parents use them.
jamie.

thanks for the info, i think im just going to go as a named driver on my dads astra with directline, then after 2 years. ill take out my own policy on a tdi 90 which would be about 800-900. damn.. have to wait 2 n abit years for a landy.

I'm 22 and have recently bought a 300tdi landy, insured it with direct line for £400.

Heard from a friend, who's actually younger than me, that fitting a £200 immobilizer reduced his premium from £400 to £200! He's with More Than.
