I'm wanting to rig up a system in my 90 to play toons through my MP3.

I have nought in there at the mo.

What size amp should I be looking at, and what size speakers should I get so that I don't get distorted sounds compensate the sound of the injun:D

Thanks

get yourself a Sony CDX-GT210 CD (£80) - this has a 3.5mm input for your MP3 thing - it's got 4 speaker outputs so get 4x 10cm dia speakers and put two behind your seats and two in the back - get a XS-AW200 boom box to sit behind the seat bulkhead and away ya go

more than loud enough to be heard at 80 MPH

there's a XS-AW200 on ebay for a tenner at the momment (260157900018) - i got mine for £20 and it can make your windows rattle so yer rum and bass tunes can be heard all ova ya estate

if yer don't want to go overboard a decent set of 6x9s run directly off a decent headunit would do the job, loads of headunits come with an ipod connector or if you do ne have an ipod lots come with a 3.5mm jack socket on the front mine has it, its a jvc unit and its about 3 years old

bannanas was todays random word - i also thought "headphones" was as well cos shirly you ant suggesting he should drive wit his headphones on

i used to do that but allways ended up with a headache - and never remembered to unplug whatever i was listening to before getting out of the vehicle

and it's good to be able to hear the engine/drivetrain while your moving just incase a wheel drops off and you dont hear it

ok maybe a wheel is a bad example :)

head up display with lots of dots and dips, or someone doing signing maybe

i used to live next door to 2 deaf (and mute) people and whenever they took their car for a service the evil mechanics turned the volume of their car stereo up full blast just before they picked it up ......

reet ah think it might illegal to drive wiff headphones on, me old memory vaguely remeber something about it.. but they yer army blokes in thur tanks and **** would be in the **** so maybe am not 100% correct this time..

as fer deef folk.. ah used to work in me mate yard and one of the locals was a deef mute, deef and dumb to be un PC. not that we'd every call him dumb! he wint so much built like a brick **** house but more built like he could crush the bricks the ****house was made of.
any way he came in one day fer us to fit a radio to his car. which we all had a snigger about. turns out he plays it at max vol and he can feel the beat vibrating through the car

fook nose i remember that when walkmans furst came on the scene folk wur getting nabs for driving while using tham. mr plod and those that think they know best sed " you couldn't hear if someone blasted yer horn at you" so in effect you was driving with undue care and attention.

yerd be best to check with yer local plod ..just to be safe

you can use eardefenders in certain vehicles loik trattas an tracked vehicles (i.e. too loud to hear if you have a hambulamce or a politsai car thind you) and some eardefenders (peltor ones i fink) have built in radio

Hi gofish
I is just in process of fittin stereo to me motor too im going the 6x9 route plus 5 1\4 inch two ways in panels behind seatbelts just below shoulder level in front wiv an alpine head unit powerin it all.
6x9's goin in boxes at back either side of the back door in front of rear lights, you get excellent boxes for 6x9's at Welcome to TheLoudest.co.uk for only 30 quid if you use thier fleabay shop the quality and service is first class and the boxes come with inbuilt quick connectors if you wanna whip em out ;)

i got a crap ampo of e bay 15 quid , some 9x6 jvc speakers 8 quid , some theloudest speaker boxes 20 quid and a 1 gig mp3 player 20 quid,
sounds really good , considering its in a landy.
bolloks to buying expencive hi-fi kit for a vehicle that is virtually a tracktor.

ive got a 220W alpine amp running 5inch alpine speakers which are in the roof trim above yer ears.

havent got a head unit, just got my ipod plugged straight into the amp via a 3.5mm jack -- aux lead.

the amp is hidden under the passenger seat next to the battery, eith the remote lead plugged straight onto the positive terminal, via a switch.

all in all works quite well, and less appealing to criminals cos they look in the window and no cd player.

oh btw my vehicle is a 90.
