It’s likely to get obliterated with the off-roading he does. Bit of precarious position when you ditch front end in deep.
Could you not fit a rad from a manual transmission type and plumb the gearbox cooler into the lower main rad?
Manual gearbox the transmission cooler is built into the bottom of the coolant radiator

I thought of that, but.... Landrover would have done that originally. Maybe the auto box requires more temperature control than the manual gearbox.

The torque converter can generate a lot of heat when not locked up.I thought of that, but.... Landrover would have done that originally. Maybe the auto box requires more temperature control than the manual gearbox.

I did think of removing the aircon rad, as the air con does not work anyway - but @Datatek talked me out of it.
So - now it is definitely going at the back.
However, I have a problem with hoses. The metal pipes that I need to fasten the longer hoses to are 12mm in diameter. The nearest fitting hose I can buy is either 10mm or 12.8mm.
If I use the 12.8mm the hose will go on easily - but will I be able to crimp it tightly enough to seal it properly?
If I use the 100mm hose it will be a snug fit - but it is re-inforced hose - will I be able to get it on at all?
Any experience you have had with this will be appreciated.

Lots of lub getting something big into a small hole always works for me.
Can i suggest you purchase smaller Cucumbers.

If you can find a company local that does hydraulic hoses they should be able to knock you up an exact size easy enough
