I use MM on an iPad with a suction mount, its ideal, it is a nice big clear map with touch screen controls, you need to place the mount so its resting on a solid base and use a bungee cord to stop it bouncing but it works spot on otherwise...

Just found old style tv bracket on eBay, with a bit of fetling might work !!!

I made one up piece of **** to do. if you take the ashtray out there is a bracket and some where to clamp it to in there, haven't got time now but if you want will get a photo up later tonight.

is there a way of charging your laptop whilst driving? ie a cigarette lighter you can use for a laptop?? Just wondering as if I was out all day my laptop would be dead by midday - if there is I might look into doing something similar!

You should be able to get a 12v charger for your laptop, worst case scenario is to get a small 200W inverter and use that...

Here's mine :)

Cheers wickford ( we all love piccies) ...I will have to go invertor route as lap top 18v ..

Last pics of my netbook and mount, but since getting an iPad now use dash mount. The tube on bottom of plate has got a cut up the middle that slides over the flat bit of metal under the ashtray.
If anyone is interested I have my 6 month old samsung net book ( one in the picture ) complete with 2012 MM maps of great britain it also has my iTunes library of 5000 songs. Comes complete with in car charger, GPS dongle and case. Just switch on and go. Open to sensible offers.

and just thought I'd add that any screen over 7" facing the driver is going to get you in poop the the law if Mr Plod spots you

but seems most of you are thinking in terms of off-roading use I guess Mr Plod isn't going to be to waiting half way down a Green Lane

Are you sure on this? As long as the screen is displaying either vehicle or navigation information I didnt believe there was a limit on the size. Not saying your wrong but I am sure when I use to go to various ICE training days we was told there wasn't a limit as long as its relevant information...
