moulding on roof trim

hi, really dumb question, but its been bugging me for some time, what is the purpose for the hollow molding in front of the sky light? it would be the perfect place for a light so i can see what im doing in the dark but it doesn't seem to be for that thanks in advance

ok found it here now... swear i did a search before posting... i never wear sunglasses so is not something i would ever have thought of...

It is also known as the 6 switch panel holder and rally light mount in my vehicle.
