Hello im new to the forum having saved since i was 9 and finally just brought a Series 3 88" petrol, hardtop. 5 bearing crank.
And i am interested in returning to motocross after doing it as a boy and want a CRF450R but i dont know if i could get one in the back.
I cant have a trailer due to the new licence restrictions, having only passed my test 2 weeks ago (im 18 by the way) and besides that i have no where to store a trailer, so im appealing to those out there if there was any way i could fit a bike in the back of a hard top or a truck cab (i am willing to convert).
Thanks
PS the specs i know is that the seat height is 985mm and a wheelbase of 1650mm.

I put my xr 400 on the bak of my series 3 88 it was also a pik up just left the tail gate to drop down and tied it stable used a home made front wheel guide to hold the bike straight and ratchet strapped the rest down worked well aas I'm also 18

You can get a bike rack that fastens to the tow bar, google it and something should come up. I do question your choice of bike though, we call the crf450 whacker plates, at work. Orange all the way.;)

Hi guys cheers for the replys but does any one know if it will ift in a hardtopif i make an extension to keep the back door open.

I don't think you would get it in back without stripping bike down. Will measure bike and loading space if I get chance and let you know.

i had a ktm380 in the back of a few weeks back, but it was a frickin nightmare and wouldnt want to do it on a regular basis. You will just end up breaking things. You would have to whip the wheels out everytime - very faffy.

The dave cooper style bike racks are brilliant as they clip on and off. I have had a couple of the years and they work really well and will handle a crf450 just fine. Avoid the cheaper ones off ebay, the quality is not as good and i wouldnt want to trust my pride and joy on one for the sake of a couple of quid.

Are you not allowed to tow anything then under the new rules?

Other option is with a truck cab as you say and have the tailgate down (on chains) I do this with my l200 warrior and its fine.

Always use good quality straps (no poundland specials) and figure out how to strap it securely.

other thing to note if you want to have it in the back of a hardtop, after a long days riding yourll be knackered, possibly cold and wet... do you really want to drive home with the door open freezing to death?

plus not sure where you would stand if you had an accident with your insurance and im sure the police would be pulling you all the time - crossed sticking awkwardly out of the back is going to attract attention.

and finally, itll attract the pikey fookers to your place - landy and a crosser in one hit!
