Dropping it off at my local Indy this afternoon, they said they can get it through the Mot for me so hopefully will post back tomorrow with some good news.

That's a rather nonsensical comment by your mate. Obviously a 4 litre V8 can pass an emissions test, otherwise there would be no large-engined cars on the road.
+1 my 4.6 sailed through emissions with a fubar'd engine....& running petrol for test.

Good news called the garage earlier and she has passed the Mot, and only cost me £80 including the test.

They told me they ran it through with no air filter and it sailed through apparently.
