MOT success

Hi all,
Took my 2003 TD4 Serengeti with 135000 miles on the clock for it"s annual MOT this morning and like an expectant Father I sat in the waiting room trying to read The Sun with one eye on the paper whilst the other watched what the Tester was doing as I hoped and prayed that it would pass, and blow me it flew through just needing one £1.50 bulb.
So many many thanks to all the helpful advice and suggestions from you Landy experts.
I fitted an EGR Blanking Kit. I fitted a second hand Inlet Manifold which I cleaned with Paraffin and I put a can of Diesel Injector stuff in the tank and with a good scrub up inside and out it seemed to do the trick. The MOT tester was quite impressed.

Thanks for that. All I need now to make the interior better is an undamaged driver seat or passenger seat squab which I can use to replace my drivers seat squab. Anyone got one in Black?

Not me. I got my set of seat from local gumtree for 30 quid. Boy wanted a loads of more but was ready to accept offers. And me neing to cheeky. Got myself front and rear seats with kinda zebra pattern for 30 bucks. Also retrimmed door cards in grey to match interior. Looking for a days of a good weather so I can retrim roof lining. And change airvents in dash. From bluish green to silver. I want black ones as dash is partially black. All is left is old greenish blue clock which drives me mad. Faces are crap. Could do with a swap or new faces.

It sounds as if your Freelander"s a good one as well. I would like to change the front of my Freelander for the updated version, but I don"t know if it"s a job I could do. If it was just a matter of undoing a few bolts, then yes I could do that, but if there was any cutting, welding, then I just don"t have the equipment for that, and for someone who started his apprenticeship as a Coach Builder, that"s a sad state of affairs.

It's a DIY job. There's some trimming of the front panel to fit the later lights. But otherwise, it's reasonably easy to do. Definitely a worthwhile swap as the lights are much improved.

Warren of Muddy Mods has done the facelift conversion a couple of times now.

If I find a scrapped Freelander with the updated front in a scrap yard is it just a matter of unbolting it or is there welding as well

No welding is needed iirc. Just a bit of trimming to make space for the larger headlight backs.
You needed to space the crash bar out 50mm too, but that's easy to do.

While you are doing the front, you might as well do the rear too

my wife took hers in a 1998 1800 and has 80,000 on the clock ,last week for the mot and it passed with 1 advisory there is a bit of rust on a brake pipe now sorted
