Hi all,
Well after a lot of routine replacements ie brakes all round/tyres....she passed today :D

A few advisements tho.....basically most of the brake pipes need or will need replaced, had a look on ebay & you can buy the complete kit (pipe & tools) for around £40.....how easy is this to do or should i just get my local garage to do it all

Cheers, Ian

Depends how good you are, and as they are life and death components leave to the professionals if not confident.
I remember changing them years ago when money was scarce, theory easy but in practice many things can go wrong, particularly when making up the pipes....flaring corectly, pipes collapsing when bending, cross threading, chaffing on bodywork to name a few.

Its easy enough to do but like every thing else if in doubt don't try it. If you go down this route its fairly easy if you practice first a number of times until you are confident about doing it and getting the right flare on the end and then just go for it remembering to use a number of small bends to make a big one . Its never going to look like it left the factory as all the pipes are pre bent and fitted before all the big oily bits go in but you can get a semi reasonable job out of it or look on EBay as there are lots of sellers on there selling pipes already made up all you have to do is bend and fit them

you can get proper bending tool for brake pipes but as said if in any doubt let them do it .you have a year to get it done . my wifes flew through the mot just one advisery on the front offside brake he said there was a problem so when we got it home i had a look WOW the pads on one side had sized solid i really do not know how it was braking any way all done and new pads and disc's on the front . not bad for a 15 year old one.

Yesssss Mine passed today as well with no advisiories. Thats 4 in a row now, tester said car is in great condition for a seven year old vehicle. Well pleased concidering all the mods done over the last couple of months.
