Yay my 2003 TD4 flew through MOT today with no advisories.

It's got 109,000 miles on it as well.

What sort if emissions readings are people getting - mine was 0.4 and believe it could be up to 3.0 and still pass.

Yep there it was up in the air with all four wheels off the ground - flying. Mind you it does that often!!! ;-)

Mine failed last week thanks to a split in a front tyre tread, tester reckoned it was due to age of tyre. Passed a couple of hours later as I had a couple of spare tyres waiting to be fitted. My emissions were .9 and last year they were .5 (limit is 1.5) think the increase may have been due to the Synergy and MAF I fitted this year even though it was on the in cab economy position and setting No 6.

There is no emissions test for a diesel - only a smoke test.

The results are not printed on the trashy new piece of paper style MOT certificate.

Two years in a row mine has had no reading on the smoke meter.

The machine gives the tester a message saying to check that the probe is inserted correctly.

After 3 tries the tester is prompted to confirm a pass.

I had the Synergy dash switch in the off position for the test.

With the old doozal, I've heard they have to rev it hard during MOT - is this true. Never taken a D for a test you see?

Yes, once the oil temp is up to 80 degrees the tester plants hard on the accelerator pedal and revs the nuts off it for about a second. Can do this 3-5 times I think.
Some tester's don't accept the car in for testing if the cam belt's due to be changed

Fook! Still not sure bout a doozal. So much to go wrong with, using this forum as a benchmark. My K 1.8 only has one problem. THEY BLOWS UP!!:D

passed mot today .. ..
would like to feel good about it ... BUT ..
advisories on all 4 brake lines .. " slight corrosion " ..
( no big deal .. can attack that myself )

and .. " front lower suspension arm ball-joint dust cover damaged ..
but still preventing ingress of dirt " .. ..
and for that .. the garage quoted £266 ( gulp!! ) .. ..
as they said the ball-joint gets replaced as a unit ..
'n it's about 1.5 to 2 hours labour ..
going to have to research that one .. that's a fair bit of ££ ..

What sort if emissions readings are people getting

0.5

that's with synergy power switch "off" .. 'n maf switch "on"
( pierburg maf .. 'n egr 'delete' )

mine is due next month, but should pass i can not see anything wrong and low milage, i could not say that for the old one with 175000 when i parted with it, but out of all that time with it i never asked my friend to do the mot, i prefer if anything is wrong then it is put right ,beside's if you are going down the road and the boy's in blue stop you and there is somthing wrong and your mate has past it, well what can you say and he would lose his job or license.

Got mine MOTd last week with a reading of 0.3, Synergy about midway for torque and power, used to read 0.1 years ago when it had good runs every day....

The only thing on mine was headlamp alignment, adjusted.. fine.
Corrosion on one of the plates that make up the fuel tank cradle, but no cause for failure, anyone else got a religious holy plate under their tank??

I repaired my fuel tank cradle last year as a few freelanders had failed mot,s on this item , and the part was no longer available , but due to the rust problem has now been re instated , i removed as much rust as i could , filled some of the small holes with p38 filler and painted the cradle with anti rust paint, hopefully it will last a few more years :)

Mine is holy and not that good, but perfectly repairable, how much of an arse is it to remove ??
