Hi Everyone,
I just need to clarify something, now to my understanding my discovery 1 200 tdi has a transmission parking brake that I have been led to believe shouldn't be applied whilst in motion due to the risk of damage to the transfer box. So Im sure everyone can understand my shock when I saw my MOT tester conduct a rolling park brake test, am I correct or should I just shut up lol:screaming_bug_eye_f:screaming_bug_eye_f

Nah she'll be right....20mph is the required speed for a decelerator test....and yes it's 16% effieciency for a dual system though they have the alternative to test it holding on a 1:6.25 gradient

15 - 20 MPH?!?! Are you sure it was a rolling brake tester and not a ####ing Dyno?! Hahaha

I point blank refuse to believe that a rolling road will do any damage to a manual land rover gearbox. It goes through a lot more stress when you are off roading! Autos with a VCU unit are a different kettle of fish

****es me off, people who think they know better than the tester.

Try doing the course, then the refreshers every 5 years, then testing stuff day in day out and dealing with the VOSA spot checks and clandestines. Then you can speak with authority.

My Landys are always tested on the brake tester and there's never a problem.

apologies trewey I was an MOT tester for 8 years and I have been in the trade between cars and commercials for 21 years, when we tested discos we used to do a decelerometer test for the service brake and a hold on a hill/back of a recovery truck test for the park brake was just after some specific advice as since the test some little odd noises have been noticed possibly just a co-incidence but just trying to set my mind at rest.

Don't apologise to me, I'm just a grumpy old cnut. ;)
