Hi,

My hippo failed it's MOT earlier today because of the number plate light not working. Took the lens off thinking it was just the bulb, but the wires had been snapped off.

The connectors were still on, but about 3-4inches down the wire had snapped. Initially thinking that someone had snapped them whilst trying to change the bulbs in the past, I just wound the wires back together and secured with electrical tape - job done - now have new MOT. :D

However, a while ago I noticed the rear window not demisting, with the demister ON. When I had the rear door card off today, I noticed that one of the demister connectors wasn't connected.

My question is - could the lowering / raising of the rear window cause the number plate lamp cables to snap and that's why it was disconnected??

I'm gonna have a better look tomorrow, but just wondered if anyone had experienced or heard of this??

Thanks.

First time I hear of this. Maybe a retaining position of the wiring got loose which made the wires were hanging in the window path and by lowering it they snapped ? (And the demisting one just got pulled off the contact ??)

Didn't look like the demister got ripped off - everything's in tact for the demister - just the number light lamp cables were well fooooooked!!!!

Maybe the demister has never been connected from the factory out or did you notice in the past it ever worked ??

had the same with mine a connector had come off the rear window so was not demisting i found the connector in the bottom of the rear door and soldered it back on and all is working now

I've reconnected the demister and it seems ok - although I haven't tried to lower the window all the way down....
