Hi my land rover freelander has just failed mot. The main reason given is that to quote 1003:Engine/transmission:Drive Shaft-Defective-Rear-Missing.
Can anyone tell me if they are correct to fail for this and if so why?
I should also mention that I live in Northern Ireland were MOT testing is conducted in seperate centres rather than approved garages.

Thanks

Yep apparently in irland that is correct it's been discussed on here before matey.

this only holds true for ireland. not sure of the book definition, but the long and the short of it being: the vehicle has been modified so as to work in a manner different to that designed and presented for type approval by the manufacturer.

how long have you had it ? usually, rear prop is removed to hide defective ird and/or viscous coupling.
