Hi guys, disco has been off the road for about 3 months now while ive been carrying out various repairs after it failed its mot. Ive now finished bar a couple of bits and want to mot it early next week. I have sorted everything on fail sheet however i have just come across this under the bonnet on the nearside inner wing (see pics) he hasnt picked up on it last time so question is will it fail? It was just crusty then i pressed lightly with my screwdriver and it went straight through also one of my lightbulbs on the rear bumper has gone but the one on the pillar is fine is this a fail and if it is how do you get the old one out?

Depends on how picky the MOT tester is. You will be having a fresh MOT test and not a re-test so they will check everything, to be honest I would sort it before putting it in.

Whoops, was gonna book it in Monday,Tuesday :s . I'm gonna put the last couple of patches on Saturday so will whizz one on that sill to keep him happy

to get the lights / bulb out of the rear bumper its done from behind underneith the vehicle

the bulb holders will just twist out and the light cluster is removed by two 8mm nuts on the back also

how is that near brake lines?

as far as i know, on that side you are fine, its the other side that any rust will be a fail as its near the brake servo

The slave cylinder is on the other side so if there is any rot within 300mm of it, it will fail coz mine failed on that, if you are at it you might aswell do it as you will only have to do it next year.

I will get it done, i could of just done with getting the mot and the next few weeks out the way first. Im goin from north to south wales and back on the 12th so am just pushed for time really could of done without the extra work right now,for example i changed the calipers and pads last night in the freezing cold, i didnt start the job till 8.30 pm on my drive cos ive got too much work on at the moment its a pain in the ass :(
