good engineering practice dictates that yu put the bolt in from the top - coz if the nut comes orf, the bolt stays in place (or is more likely to) if the nut comes off from a bolt fitted from the bottom, the bolt will fall out.

Well sorry its been a while posting but i've just been so busy..

IT PASSED MY MOT LAST THURSDAY!!!

tho unfortunately all the pics were taken via my mobile but that got smashed last week :(

what i would recommend tho for other users.. eg begginners

1. WEAR PROPER SAFETY EQUIPMENT ALL THE TIME..

unfortunately i noticed i could patch somewhere and neglected to put on a welding mask as i was also doing in the night and as such i suffred from flash burns and all i can say is its not nice.

2. replace your outer sill aswell.. i dident i just got the inner sill and it was a pain in the ass getting them in i had to cut out half (the bad end) just to angle them in, the same guy i got the sills from wanted 19.99 for the outer sills and for the hasstle involved it would have been worth it.

3. sissor jack .. as the rear sills were well and trully gone i found it dificult to put the replacments in,, i put a sissor jack on the tow ball and then jacked it up against the spare tyre on the door, it took after cleaning 30 mins to replace and then repaint.

I know its not much but i hope someone finds it helpfull ;) and

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP AND ADVICE IT WAS REALLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Regards

Wappy.

BTW im now looking for other LR to weld i have the bug now ;) but just have to remember my mask ;)

interesting. Get yourself a small angle grinder/quote]

Yeh, and never never never let the grinder catch a part of your overals because as it does and cuts through your overals/T shirt and down your jogging bottoms past the family jewels (thank god) leaving you a nasty gash requiring stitches it's not funny........NO ITS NOT!!!

Cant believe Ive spent ages reading through this thread to find NO PICS OF ANY!!
Has given me a boost of confidence though, I too have never welded and it looks like I have a fair bit to get through..
Although on plus side I am giving myself until July to get in MOT'd and on the road :D
