My much loved 2004 vogue failed the mot today on headlight washers ,garage are now sourcing a new washer pump and headlight wiper motor I never realised they were part of the test hell knows what this will cost

Headlight motors and pumps are dead cheap second hand and a doddle to replace

Surprised that both items have failed together on yours though

Oh right

Hope the bill isn't too steep !

you may have already paid your bill but if not ..

just to worry you, i replaced both my headlight wipers including the motors and the parts alone were over £300 new, i was in a rush and the car was at a mates being worked on and didnt have time to source second hand before the MOT, or you can pick them up on ebay for as little as £5 as i did as a spare in case they go again.

i didnt replace my washer bottle pump, i am sure that will be a reasonable price

Might as well put the £300 into a facelift conversion and loose the ghastly wipers :p

i have been looking at doing that pretty much the same as yours but i have had to put anything other than food and life saving surgery on hold until i've paid off some of my last years l322 running costs

But to repeat what Wammers has already said, headlamp wash/wipe only needed on HID headlamps.

So if you don't have HID's fitted it's a fail item. if HID's are fitted as long as the wash OR the wipe works that is ok.

Needs to be a power spray / wash

As the original l322 wash / wiper system only dribbles out as the wipers do the cleaning

The later models without the wipers have high pressure pumps fitted so yet cleaning is done using the power of the water only

Just a point about these wipers , the power for the headlight wash pump comes via the supply to the passenger side wiper motor , if the pump is goosed and shorted inside it stops the passenger side headlight wiper working , I found this out after I replaced my passenger side wiper (e bay £20) and it still wouldn't work . when I fitted a new pump the passenger headlight wiper started working.
