MOT due, Top tailgate & a bungie cord!!!

Will my classic fail its MOT because the top tail gate is held shut by a bungie cord, not the best (Especially for a security point of view) i know but my Alu replacement hasnt arrived yet and the MOT is about to run out.

Yes it will fail. All passenger doors must open from both inside and out and latch securely. All tailgates boot lids must latch securely. Depends how your tester feels, it is not exactly a major problem if there are no dickie seats in boot. Living where you do have a word with him and tell him the story he may well let it go.

Take off the tailgate for MOT - problem solved!
