Morocco March 2016

I have used Procomp before and never had any issues, I think it was the 1 ton of crap I hauled around Morocco that wore the shocks and bushes out, ironically I'm now going to fit a way better spring set up, even though this time I will not be carrying so much weight.

We fit brand new Terrafirma Heavy duty shocks to our rangy, one failed while out in morocco, luckily we managed to get it swapped under warranty.... "has it been used in extreme off roading?" what! no, only driven though france

HI Guys, sorry not been on, I have had a few personal things thrown my way in life in the last couple of months, and I have had to move in amongst that lot, you've more than likely guessed, I am not going to be able to make it on the trip, I wish I was.

Went onto Ram Mounts website to find suppliers in UK - on my third so called supplier - the sticking point seems to be the tablet mount - still will keep trying - will let you know how I get on.

Yes, well in my case I just bought one of those posh radiator grills in a moment of weakness.

Clearly not enough going wrong with yours to spend money on James.
Just ordered the mount Mike from www.sportouring.com .

I've spent around £3500 on it this year, and covered 500 miles in it since it returned from Morocco, just sits in the barn all covered up.

I've spent about that much over the last five/six years and use it as my daily drive.

Since buying it last year for £15k, it now stands me in at £31k, next year galv chassis, Puma doors and new interior and then it's finished.

Hmm, hate to disappoint you, but what I have noticed being a Defender owner is once you think you have done everything, it's time to go round and do it all again.
I got mine for nothing, my friend over here unfortunately had cancer and left me his Defender. I have spent about £3500 on it doing various bits and pieces. Replaced the front axle with a Salisbury one, new rear cross member, new clutch, then various odds and sods. I will put it in for a respray early next year. It has been retired from my daily drive recently. I wanted something with better heaters.

I know, got to make myself believe it will be finished at some point.
Lucky that the wife likes it, doesn't like riding about in it though.

Going to look at buying a Jeep Cherokee, an old one this weekend just for hauling logs and trash about, need something cheap to abuse. Already I've seen a lift kit on eBay for one lol

Well, if you decide, once you get into Morocco, where you're going and when, you might see us again. . What chat channel do you use?
Your outline plan goes in a different direction to ours, but we'll be in the country for 4 weeks so could team up if we know where you'll be, roughly. We'll have a web connection every other day, so perhaps we could set up an RV (other than at Portsmouth, anyway)?

Sounds good, but personally I have no real idea of what the route will be after we get to Marrakesh on day one. I know Ken wants to drive somewhere Deep South to deliver some tools to a mechanic chap who previously fixed his 110, no doubt it's somewhere a little "iffy" LOL

Yeah, I felt that from the previous posts you'd end up down there, as will we, eventually. I also got the feeling that your group plan was to avoid doing the things you did this year, which kinda takes you away from where we plan to go to begin with but we'll be at Samara after 10 days or so.
We didn't get into deep dune country, just played about on the edges because we were solo. That's something we want to do some of next year, hence the interest in where you were aiming. If necessary, we'll just hang about Mhamid or Erfoud until someone with a similar agenda turns up.

Fair enough the drop location is not one to linger but there is a good wild campsite an hours drive south just past a track through the hills dotted with numerous defence emplacements.
