Following my excitement with the Air con pipe being sawn through by the aux belt I had more excitement on the way home.

Stopped at the Little Thief in St Neots (Normally go into Tescos but their coffee shop is closed for a store expansion so had to change our plans). Any how, when we came out and I fired up Hippo the engine wouldn't start!! Tried several times and eventually it started up. Popped the bonnet and noticed a fuel bleed off line was wet with diesel. Well, okay, so there was air in the system. That pipe was replaced by the independent back in November so I'm not impressed. However, all was now running so lets carry on.

Now running round Bedford and there is suddenly a strong smell of diesel. Trundling down the dual carriage way and I notice that the fuel gauge is dropping alarmingly fast. First chance to pull over was grabbed and up came the bonnet again. This released a cloud of vaporised fuel. Close inspections showed this bleed off pipe had now completely snapped and was happily dropping fuel down the engine .

Into the tool kit. I had already replaced the inter-injector pipes a whle ago and left the injector to fuel pump pipe was it was solid at the time. Therefore I had a good foot of spare pipe in the box. At the MOT the injector to fuel pump pipe was seen to leak and the garage changed it for safety. Can't argue with that really but I wish they had used some decent pipe.

Five minutes later and a new piece of pipe was fitted. Re-primed the fuel system and all was well. However, it could have been BoB's wish coming true if the spilt fuel had found something hot to play with..... :ekk::mad:

Freelanders, you gotta love um!!
