More door troubles

I decided to give it a go today, removing the panel is what was putting me off.The door used to open after a good thump but not any more.I knew thumping it would have no effect but i did anyway.
I disconnected the link from the outside handle and could fell that the lever wasnt catching anything,no resistance. So from the inside of the door i could feel an opening at the end of that lever and feeling my way with a screw driver i somehow levered something inside the lock, heard a click and the door opened using the door handle.
WD'd all the insides(think it would have been better to have oiled it,because it was hard to get the grease to stick to it after),it was getting dark so i didn't spend too long trying to find how it works(dont really care now).
I refitted the lock and shut the door and it was in the locked position,so I took it out again, unlocked it and tried again. It closed but wouldnt open and the button wouldn't go up or down, then I had the bright idea to use the key fob and hey presto, the door now opens and closes like the day it left the factory.

If you have to do this job someday, just dont give up hope.

As I discovered in my recent thread on the central locking system, these cars have dead locks. If that engages you need to use the squeaker to unlock the car. Its disabled on my car now!! :D:D:D
