Hi all - On a D2 TD5 2000 model with 180k miles, I get a momentary dead spot when accelerating - Its not at any particular RPM - only happens when accelerating and lasts for less than a second. When the accelerator is pressed gently is doesn't happen or is not noticable. I have tried disconnecting the air input monitor and also checked the ICU for oil ingress from the harness. It runs perfectly otherwise. I would be very thankful for any advice.

Hi. It's quite important to say what kind of gearbox you have, manaul or auto?
do you mean MAF(the sensor between the airbox and turbo) by that?
also is the EGR still fitted?

This TD5 is Manual.
Changed from Air To Springs a few weeks ago - but the problem existed long before that.

so first of all unplug the EGR solenoid, clean the valve and clean the MAP sensor as to clear the pressure sensing crystal which is in the pointed hole near the bottom of the temp probe then see if it's better or not and if no change we'll speak again
Hi Sierrafery and thanks for your advice. Unfortunately, I did not get around to cleaning the EGR since receiving your advice as I need the car daily and weekend time is mostly accounted for. However, It's on my list for next weekend and I will update you with the outcome. Thanks M M
Hi Sierrafery and thanks for your advice. I removed and cleaned the EGR - the inlet pipe from the exhaust was completely blocked with gunge - similar to that found on rocker covers / oil fillers when there had been an ingress of water into the sump. Can't imagine where this came from. In any event, its now completely clean and replaced. I had a ten mile run yesterday (Saturday) and the miss seems to have cleared and the car is running much better. I will keep and eye on it going forward least the gunge returns. Did you clean the MAP sensor too?
Hi Sierrafery - It seems that my discovery setup is different to yours shown above. On top of the EGR is a vacuum diaphragm / soleniod probably operated from a signal from the ECU as required. I cleaned the EGR inside completely with carb cleaner and an old toothbrush - but could not see the map sensor ?.

Hi, The MAP sensor is at the back of the inlet manifold.

I did'nt know what the map sensor was until today and I spotted it on the inlet manifold. I cleaned it out will with carb cleaner and an air line. Back to together now and seems fine. Thanks again for your time and advice.
