Anyone fitted modulars to a Freelander with the bigger brakes? Do the calipers clear the back of the wheel? Cheers. :)

I asked John Craddock a few days ago and they have a 35mm offset steel wheel that I was told was suitable for my 06 TD4 auto, so should be fine for yours.

Ask them, or whoever you are proposing to buy from. They should Know......

I asked, and they weren't sure....as they had never fitted any to a later model. They are 35mm offset, that would bring them out 10mm over standard rims. But the backs of the modulars are flat. And the rear drums are slightly dished, and the calipers are bigger than pre facelift so really need to check first. :)

Not going to buy any till I know lol :)

As I mentioned earlier, I emailed John Craddock, and they said they were 'perfect' for my facelift. They only list one for the Freelander when I did a search.

I would be surprised if they didn't fit, as from experience of steel wheels on my Yeti, they were larger in side as steel wheels quite often are thinner than alloy wheels.

Find a supplier you are happy with who can tell you the Will fit, or even visit one to find out and try!!

That's what I did when buying my alloy wheels.

Ive spoke to 3 suppliers now, and none are sure.....they didn't know the brakes are different.....even know they list them for 1998-2006.

Jamie, it might be worth sending Diesel Do a PM, see what brakes he had fitted to his.

Yeah, i'll send him a PM.....but not sure this is viable now as my tyres won't fit
7" wide rims, so unless I can get a good price for my alloys, tyres and wheel spacers....this aint going to happen. :(

Ha! It's all bollox! After the 2001 facelift the brakes are all the same! Vented 277mm discs the pre 2001 were solid discs. The difference is in the width not the diameter the early rims catch the face of the late caliper cos it goes around a fatter disc and pokes out more, the early rims weren't shaped to clear it. They put 15" rims on base td4s so it's nothing to do with diameter!
