How can you see if you have a modifed thermostat?

I know that on my freelander the headgasket has been repleced about 3000KM ago inlcluding waterpump.

Everything is still fine with my oil and coolant (knock on wood..)

But as the car is new to me I just wanted to check if they alos may have changed the thermostat, but no clue if this is done.

the new thermostat unit will be suspended by the hoses behind the rad, a white plastic body with hoses going to the rad and expansion tank. the original stat is tucked right at the back of the engine

I'm having a modified thermostat fitted to mine now, new head gasket too, should be back tues...

If yu can justify the extra cost, get an ewp fitted at the same time, so that it runs on after the engine is turned off. This will reduce the effects of cavitation and hotspots. Both of which are serious problems on the 1.8 and 2.5.

Is it a easy job to fit a ewp (electric water pump ?)
Cheers
