Are insurance companies just trying to find ways to load premiums and opt out when claims are made.

What is a modification? changing all the lights to leds? fitting a stainless exhaust? roof racks?

I get that some mods are possibly going to impact damage inflicted to other cars such as winches and increased power but isn't the rest of it part of that figure you say your Landy is worth? Roof racks, lights, exhausts, wheels, tyres, seats and the list goes on aren't going to increase the risk to the insurance company by that much.

I've just bought mine and I am already dreading the hunt for decent cover - I'm dreading missing something off the list of non-standard items that places me in that position of being told we are not paying out because you never told us. Some of the items I am not sure if they are upgrades or standard :(

I don't think mine increased when I to AF about the mods I'd done, talking to the guy on the phone he said they prefer mods as it tends to suggest that you look after your vehicle. I think most people have a good idea what's not standard on their vehicles. I'd recommend telling them as it only gives them an excuse not to pay out in the event of a claim....

As mentioned, it is vital to declare all modifications - however minor they may be.

We, as a modified specialist can cover almost all modifications so it should not be a problem, a lot of our schemes do not load the premiums for cosmetic modifications, and sometimes not even on performance enhancing modifications - depending on the increase.

If you need any help or would like a quotation please do feel free to PM me your details and I can arrange a call back from our quotes team.

Kind regards,
