I'm looking at buying a 2007 F2 to replace the faithful green goddess after 16 years of service. Do any of you know if there is any way of telling the model/trim level from the VIN or elsewhere. I have been offered a nice HST at a reasonable price (and it has HST body bits ) but it doesn't feel as luxurious as other SE's I have tried. Has someone tried a bit of badge engineering?

You could try http://www.vindecoderz.com/

It "sometimes" lists what looks like a whole host of production info such as style of wheels, CL remote frequency etc - and this includes the model version (eg it has shows SE, HSE etc on F1 searches I've done). Sometimes it just comes back with hardly any info.

Worth a punt.

If you send me the VIN I can enter it into my copy of Land Rover microcat and see what it comes up with - it often gives complete details on later cars.
It will only take a minute.

I think the "s" in hst is the clue, fairly sure they were based on an "s" model as its base vehicle, so yes an"xs" would certainly seem a better spec!

I'm going to have another look later in the week, I'll get the number then.

Cloth or leather interior?
Iirc the SE and HSE have leather seats. The HSE adds electric seat operation.
S and XS have cloth seats and loose a few other goodies.
