Have sat and read all the threads on here about temp gauges and how the 200tdi takes forever to get warm even when pulling a heavy trailer and its starting to bother me! Mine has had head gasket/head skimmed/ cooling system flushed out, correct temp sender fitted, thermostat and viscous fan and while its better than it was before it still sits just below the red on the temp gauge after running for a few miles. Some say that theirs does the same as mine and others say that their 200's struggle to get to half way.
I know that the stat opens at 88 degrees so that would fit in with the gauge being 3/4 all the time but is mine not running hotter than it should be??

As I'm writing this its just occured to me that I haven't checked to see if the gauge is working properly - which I will now go and do! Please feel free to put my mind at rest though..

i also used to run my 200 just below the red before a did the head overhaul. Now it gets to just under halfway. So i would suggest that your engine is running hot or as you said check the gauge. Check the earth connection to the thermostat aswell! i had to rig up a new earth to the rocker cover to get my gauge to read properly before i renewed it .

Mine sits just over half way too, always has even on the previous lump a yr ago which only blew due to water getting in. But even when towing she sits the same.
