Hello to people who no more than me about these things ... that should cover everyone!

I have a 1990 Defender 90 Pick Up ... I am suffering the usual side window misting issue so I invested in a pair of those Defender Demist things. It seems that I am the only person in the world with narrow vents in a 1990 model ... aargh!

Does anyone know of a similar solution for Narrow Vent owners?

I also have the narrow vents (plus I didn't want anything on the top of the dash as I like the flat surface) so I did a DIY solution which has been working very well for the past few years.

I drilled two 20mm diameter holes in the top of the lower heating duct (the hollow section that forms the bottom section of the dash) and fitted some 20mm PVC bulkhead fixings (these holes were at each end of the flat top section so they are invisible when the dash is built up). I then ran flexible PVC conduit up behind the instrument cluster (OS) and wiper cable cover (NS) to exit through two holes drilled in the end of the dash (the OS one in the plastic panel which covers the heater controls and the NS one in the grab-handle moulding).
At first I experienced a very pronounced whistle which I soon determined was caused by the flow of air through the end of the corrugated conduit so I pushed a piece of close fitting smooth tube a couple of inches into each end and it has been silent ever since.
A very effective solution and as I had the dash apart anyway was easy to do.
 
Am I the only person who does not suffer with this as a problem? Seems to be very common but has never been an issue for me. I have the military door tops though so don’t know if that makes a difference.

Me neither really, is probably the draught coming in by the hinges..
 
Me drivers side gets a bit foggy when I'm damp lol, passenger side is always clear. Drivers door takes 2 attempts to shut sometimes, seal probably wants replacing

Have you checked the heater air intake pipe doesn't have water lying in it. The drain hole in there is prone to blocking up, water lies in the pipe and causes excessive steaming in the cab. Just a thought and it's easy to check. :)

yeah i dont suffer with it either and i have the military door tops,
 
I too have military door tops and don’t get particularly steamed up. If I do it’s when I first get in. There are more droughts around the sliding glass panels though so that probably helps......
Not that this helps the OP however.
