Went to move the landy 2a with a 2.5 n/a diesel yesterday and topped up with water as usual, only to find the water pouring out of the block and a missing core plug. I assume the winter snow and cold took it's toll on the water (which has at best a summer level of antifreeze) in the engine. I've got the core plug which seems in good nick - can I just put it back in or get new? is there anything else I need to check to ensure more damage hasn't been done by the winter cold?

Hello Adrian

I have a 2.5NA and in the process of fitting a new cylinder head gasket. I also want to know about fitting core plugs. Do you need a sealant ? Any info from anyone

no sealant, just smear a thin bead of threadlock fluid in the hole before fitting plugs I always freeze my core plugs before fitting as they contract slightly and make it easier to tap in. Make sure they go in dead straight or you'll end up with em inside the engine. I use the largest socket that'll fit inside the plug and stick a short ext bar on the socket

Get a new one they're only pennies.
