Hi all,

My 2004 Discovery 2 TD5 Commercial has just failed it's French 'MOT' as the examiner cannot find the chassis VIN plate. He showed me where it should be found (on the right hand side of the chassis) and I have subsequently looked and cannot see it anywhere on the chassis. I have searched the web and it is supposed to be on the chassis forward of the front suspension turret.

The VIN plate In the engine bay and the plate on the windscreen & the v5 correspond and the vehicle passed its hpi check when i bought it earler this year. It passed it's UK MOT fine too.

Does anybody know where else I should look or maybe know why no chassis VIN should be present?

The car has a Land Rover 'special vehicles' plate under the bonnet (i think this is due to it being a 'commercial' as i think they are all converted by LR)

I'd appreciate any help with this one, thanks in anticipation,
Chris

It's about 20cm left of the fuel filter behind the rear wheel.... u have to clean well the spot to see it

Thank you so much - you are an absolute star! I pressure washed the area and it is exactly where you said it would be. I can't thank you enough.

All the best
Chris

Ah, the French. Reknowned for making their cars and putting the parts in weird places.:)

Different countryes different MOT regulations.... it seems that in the ex-comunist regime are better rules for that.... here the MOT man must know where to find the VIN, not the customer, and if he doesnt know he has a complete database with all type of vehicles to search.
